I had read and researched about turkey a lot before heading out there. The Ottoman Empire Gad always held a keen inter at in my mind and I had utilized my first short trip to this country exploring the seat of the empire in Istanbul and soaking in the sites and flavors of this beautiful country.

For my second trip however, I wanted to explore something off the beaten path but most searches somehow or the other lead me to well known or well written places like Cappadocia, Izmir or Antalya. So, after some insistence from my friends Tarina and Papai I decided to head to their small town on the border of Turkey Bulgaria and Greece. Edirne, I was told, also boasted of the largest mosque of Turkey and one of the most beautiful as well.

Though tourists can rent taxis and cars to Edirne, I was told that the bus connectivity was equally as good. Overcoming the initial language barrier, I was able to grab the bus operated by Nilofer (Metro also runs an inter-city bus service)….
